My job is to bring the most interactive, animated and engaging experiences possible to your website. I bring a design to life.
Designer | Sterling Lentz
Client | Darcie Burrell
Darcie Burrell is a copywriter at W+K. Darcie wanted a more animated and interactive site that was a bit more interesting than a static site. I worked with Sterling on what was and was not possible to do with pure CSS/Javascript/HTML5 elements. I utilized history.js for HTML5 history push states, so the AJAX loaded content will look as if it's on that page and the browser location bar will be the "real" link back to that same content.

Designer | Brennen McElhaney
Client | Oodles Unlimited
Oodles wanted to take a break from the educational games and make a game for fun's sake. We met and I pitched the idea of a simple game where you're a frog floating down the river catching bugs with a long sticky tongue. I designed the tongue interaction and and bug patterns, I also created an extensible set of classes to create unique bug formations (like the Flying V and the Power Square) quickly using the Flash IDE. Fully build in AS3 and OOP.

I needed a web app in Ruby on Rails to host my illustrations. I also wanted to create a way to monetize my creative work, so each illustration can be purchased as a poster. When an order for a poster of an illustration comes in I contact a local printer. The printer then uses their vendor login to the site to download the AI files and print/ship the posters. This project was a great thought exercise to develop an entire project from start to finish, and I've learned valuable lessons in creating a web app and a small business.

Designer | Patrick Scully
Client | Original Retro Brand
Patrick wanted to have a classic photo frame wrapper for a flickr gallery. I decided to write a jQuery powered gallery that uses a couple clever CSS tricks to make the frame resize.

Word Builder is a Flash game designed to help kids learn the audible difference when swapping out one letter or segment of a word. This project was a little more involved, Brennen's specifications required a dictionary to match real words and have audio feedback for correct words. I built a dictionary tool in Ruby on Rails to allow management of offensive words and editing existing words. The Flash game pulls down this dictionary and uses some rules to keep some higher priority offensive words from even being built at all.

Designer | MSA
Client | UNC Lineberger
MSA approached us and wanted a quick and interactive way to cycle through a gallery of images. Brandon Calloway built the image management with Ruby on Rails and built the gallery in Flash. I pulled all the information from the database using xml and created a pagination system that works with jQuery powered links and Ruby on Rails routes.

Designer | Leslie Kraemer
Client | Birdsong Gregory
I worked with Leslie evolving an idea of a quick way to get clients to get into their portfolio immediately from the home page. We decided to build an animated Flash gallery of thumbs, that would grab your attention then then get you right into their strongest work.

Joey's Secret Agent Codebreaker is a code breaker Flash game designed for kids. I worked with Brennen on his designs and functional requirements to create a version of code breaker that was accessible and has a little flair to match the character's attitude.

Designer | Brains on Fire
Client | Brains on Fire and Jason's Deli
Brains on Fire wanted an interactive Flash video filmstrip to explain to a customer what a day in the life of Jason's Deli was like. They presented us with a design and a concept to illustrate the passage of time. I took great care to give the impression of accelerated time and even put in key times of day with special events. The lights and cars arrive at specific times and the sun and moon show up at appropriate times.

Client | Don Pablos
My first project with Scullytown, I helped Bowie Van Ling build the highly interactive and unorthodox DonPablos.com Flash website. I worked on various animation throughout the project and built the interactive menu. The menu is managed via xml file and the client has kept it updated themselves since 2007.

Designer | Patrick Scully
Client | Scripps Network
Scripps Network, the parent company of Food Network/DIY, approached us to develop animated Flash ad units for their multiple websites. We worked with Scripps to help produce more traditional Flash ad units, and the more engaging "pushdown" Flash ad unit that has interaction between the large landscape ad and the 300x250 ad. All ads fell under required file size as well.
